Venom Without Spiderman Is Like Having Cereal Without Milk

A movie franchise with Venom without Spiderman is like having cereal without milk… What is Sony thinking? I’ll tell you what they’re or rather she’s thinking… Amy Pascal at Sony is thinking she could emulate what Kevin Feige at Marvel is doing with Spiderman with Venom! That’s right… Remember my recent post entitled Venom Origin Story With A Twist? Well, in there I began writing about my suspicions about the director’s decision, when I should’ve been focused on Pascal…

Remember how Sony was gonna create a franchise with The Sinister Six (Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven, Mysterio, Sandman, & Vulture)? Did we ever see that? Was it ever released on the big screen? How about straight to DVD or Digital? The answer’s no, because it wouldn’t work without its main ingredient…

Venom Without Spiderman

So how does Sony rebound from this? Let’s make a franchise around one if not THE most famous enemy of Spiderman, Venom! We’ll introduce Carlton Drake & The Life Foundation, which wasn’t introduced at all in the Comics until Venom Lethal Protector… And while we’re at it, let’s have them be the responsible party for Venom attaching itself to Eddy Brock! The symbiotic suit was not created in a lab; it was a sentient alien. It was,’t until Venom Lethal Protector that Carlton Drake figured out how to replicate it.

Let’s also forget about the fact that Spiderman ruining Eddy’s professional not to mention personal life, and leaving Venom’s suit near the church bell, which is how Venom REALLY attaches itself to Eddy not be the focal point in all this…

Why not work with Marvel on this? Why can’t Spiderman be a part of Venom’s franchise or vice versa? Eddy Brock’s Venom wouldn’t have existed if it hadn’t been for Spidey… Heck… Eddy Brock’s anger infused with the symbiotic suit would not have existed without Spiderman, and you’re making Venom without him?

At the end of the day, the only way this will continue on its franchise route of mediocrity is if Venom does moderately well at the box office, which it will more than likely do…

So what do you think about Venom without Spiderman? You can catch Venom in a theater near you October 5th!
