Good Omens Prime Debut

Neil Gaiman's Good Omens Prime debut is on May 31st and for those of you who have yet to read the Neil Gaiman's award-nominated graphic novel with the same title, then you're in for a treat! Imagine for a moment that the world is coming to an end and you have until next Saturday before supper to stop it... In this scenario, you're either a finicky angel or a free-loving demon who have been living among humans since the very beginning. Both have developed a liking to their arrangement and as a result are motivated to stop the apocalypse at all costs...

Now... Stopping the apocalypse depends on them both working together to find an eleven year old anti-Christ who doesn't even know he's a ticking clock! As you might have guessed, this is where all the fun begins because the last thing you would ever imagine seeing is an angel working alongside a demon to find a kid who is destined to literally raise hell...

So, there you have the basic synopsis; let's talk a little about the author, who is the recipient of several prestigious awards including Harvey, Eisner, and Hugo... His most notable works include Sandman, American Gods, Stardust, Coraline, The Graveyard Book, and Good Omens. As for novels that made it onto the big screen and television, American Gods (Starz Series), Stardust (Big Screen 2007), Coraline (Big Screen 2009), and Good Omens (Amazon Prime May 31st, 2019). Although the television series Lucifer, which was based solely on the novels by Mike Carey, I think it's important to acknowledge the fact that the character in Mike Carey's novels was first created by Neil Gaiman for the Sandman novels. It's also worth mentioning that his work on he Graveyard Book, in which he won the prestigious John Newbery Medal has been in talks to become a film directed by Ron Howard. There is no denying that Neil Gaiman is by far one of the most successful novelists and sought after creators as it pertains to movies and television. Most of his work has been brought to life by movie and television studios throughout the Hollywood lot.

A lot of thought was put into who would play the characters in the graphic novel...

  • David Tennant (Dr Who & Jessica Jones) will play the part of Crowley, the demon snake who tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden.
  • Michael Sheen (UnderWorld & Twilight Saga) will play the part of the Angel Aziraphale who guarded the eastern gate of Eden.
  • John Hamm (Mad Men & TAG) will play the part of Arch Angel Gabriel.
  • Anna Maxwell Martin (Becoming Jane & Philomena) will play the part of Beelzbub who is the leader or general of Hell's army.
  • Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange & Sherlock) will play the part of Satan's voice.

There are many more Hollywood stars who make up the entire cast of Good Omens, which debuts on Amazon Prime May 31st, 2019.
